Congressional Ethics

Americans have become cynical and disenfranchised about our government because those in whom we placed our trust have violated it. Elected representatives should be accountable to those who entrusted them with the future of our nation and the defense of our Constitutional liberties. We have a major ethics problem in government; its presence is a constant, exhibited in the conduct of too many of our elected leaders. Fraud, waste and abuse start in the halls of Congress, and carry through to every department of the federal government.

As your Congressman, I will:

  • Support legislation requiring Congress to abide by the laws they pass, including use of services, travel, and medical insurance.
  • Support House rules that require removal of Representatives from any leadership position if and while they are under investigation for ethics violations. Leadership in Congress is not a right reserved for those with friends on the Ethics Committee; it is an honor and a responsibility worthy only of those whose conduct and principles are above reproach.
