Illegal Immigration

Immigrants built this nation into the greatest in world history. Legal immigrants are an essential element of our nation’s success. I support legal immigration.

However, illegal immigration is adding staggering costs to local, state and national economies, in addition to jeopardizing public safety and endangering our national security. We cannot reward those who break the law.

As your Congressman, I will:

  • Eliminate government benefits for illegal immigrants and their families.
  • Fund and build a wall from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean, and adequately staff it with the manpower and other resources needed to stop illegal immigration.
  • Enact and enforce strict penalties for employers that hire illegal immigrants.
  • Streamline and expedite the legal immigration system so that it doesn’t continue to serve as an inefficient, outdated, painfully slow obstacle to those who try to enter the U.S. legally.
  • Support legislation to deport illegal immigrants and their families when discovered. We do not have the resources to search for 13 million illegal immigrants. We can, however, deal with them either when they apply for government benefits or private sector employment, or when they are apprehended by Law Enforcement Officers for violations of other laws. When apprehended, they should be deported with their families, with the proviso that they may apply to immigrate legally unless they have been engaged in criminal activity.
